Community Outreach

Kyros Sports is on a mission to make rugby accessible to as many boys and girls as possible. Since 2014 we have been actively involved in social inclusion initiatives in underserved areas of the community.

Most of these boys and girls are from disadvantaged backgrounds and do not have access to regular sport and organized exercise. Our aim is to fill this void and help mold them into well rounded members of the society.

We use rugby to foster life skills such as unity, teamwork, respect, confidence, and tolerance. Rugby encourages the idea that without playing together, without teamwork and team spirit, you can not go forward.

Kyros Sports managed the very successful Old Mutual Development Program from 2016 until its conclusion in 2020. The program produced countless success stories and over 15,000 participants.

Through our partners, we have access to Innovation Hub Centers that teach kids how to code and map. STEM education is at the forefront of all technological advancement and we want to give as many young people, especially those of color, exposure to the latest world trends.

Boys and girls regularly play rugby and attend coding and mapping lessons 2–3 times a week.

In 2016, we became the first company to host a Super Rugby Game in Zimbabwe when 3 time Super Rugby Champions, Vodacom Bulls played the Toyota Cheetahs in Harare. This event included multiple community events and youth development camps. Here are some photos from the event.

Through its registered non-profit (501c3) organization, Kyros Sports fosters social inclusion in underserved areas using sport, innovation, and education.

Research supports the fact that sport is an effective tool for promoting cooperation, solidarity, tolerance, understanding, social inclusion, and health. Throughout the last decade, we have witnessed this reality through our various rural and high-density community programs. Kyros Sports managed the very successful Old Mutual Development Program from 2016 until its discontinuation in 2020. This program, which has produced countless success stories and over 15,000 participants, was the first of its kind in Zimbabwe.

As of January 2023, in addition to our sport programs, we will set up and support existing learning centres in rural Zimbabwe. There are few schools in these communities, so children are more likely to walk long distances ranging from 5 to 15km each way just to get to school. In most cases, the children are also expected to perform manual chores around the house after school, leaving them fatigued and unable to concentrate on their studies.

Kyros Ubuntu and our partners will fund the establishment of learning centres in their communities to solve these distance issues. This is expected to create a generation of more energetic and productive students who will have wholesome school experiences through sports and education.
