The Seattle Seahawks have been the number 1 defensive team in the NFL for the last 2 seasons and Waiseli Serevi (a former Fiji 7s rugby player) and his team at Serevi Rugby have been involved in the defensive aspects of their game plan through consultation and training on tackling techniques for the past 2 seasons.
Seattle have set a new standard for hard, effective and safe tackling with the help of Serevi. We are interested in exploring ways in which we can contribute in different sporting codes particularly American Football. Rugby tackling methods and techniques from the Southern Hemisphere brand of rugby are considered as safe, aggressive, and efficient. They have also earned notoriety for dominance of the opponent.
John Mitchell will provide training and consultation on basic wrap up tackling techniques, in-depth coaching in tackling as well as other key factors that constitute an effective tackle which minimizes gain of yardage and takes the head out the tackle in order to protect the tackler.
John, who is a former All Blacks and England coach, is renowned for his incredible rugby mind especially in contact situations and his body of work makes him an ideal candidate for this program. He would add immense value consulting for College and NFL teams
